Directions: Complete all three assignments below

Assignment 1: Animated Atlas

native american mapDirections: Go to Animatedatlas.com: Growth of a Nation by clicking the image to the left and fill in the blank spaces on the narration transcript with the correct answers.  Click the button below the image to download and print a copy of the narration transcript. Select play straight through to watch the entire 10 minute video presentation. You may also pause and rewind if you have a difficult time keeping up.  Furthermore, you can drag the red timeline pointer at the bottom of the screen to any year you want. Clicking just the year at the bottom brings up a new window with an expanded timeline of that time period.

Assignment 2: The legendary Frontier Video Clips

movie cameraDirections: Click on the movie camera to the left to view the video segments from the Video The Legendary Frontier ("The Plains Region", Cowboy Life", "Rising Tensions", "The Dawes Act", and "Bond Issues") and answer the discussion questions corresponding to each segment. Click the buttons below the video camera image to download and print the discussion questions. You may either write your answers on a separate sheet of paper or type them in Microsoft Word and print them out at the end of the lesson. *Note: When you click on the video link it will take you to a United Streaming login page where you will need to enter your name.  An assignment sheet will open with a video link.  Just follow the instructions to complete the assignment.  I recommended that you save the video files to your desktop for easier viewing rather than streaming the video.

Assignment 3: The Homesteaders and the Mormons

Directions: Open the documents by clicking on the images below and read about the Homesteaders Push-Pull Factors, the Homestead Act, and The Mormon Exodus from Nauvoo. Next, complete the questions or activities at the bottom of each information sheet. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper or type them in Microsoft Word and print them out at the end of the lesson.
