The Age of Imperialism and World War I PowerPoint Project

Assignment:

Use the links provided below to create a Power Point presentation about The Age of Imperialism and World War I.  Your presentation should include (but does not have to be limited to):

1. A brief description or definition of imperialism

2. Describe the foreign policy known as expansionism or imperialism, and explain what motivated the United States to adopt this policy in the nineteenth century. (opens in separate window as a Microsoft Word .doc file)

3. The causes and results of the Spanish-American War (also, discuss Yellow Journalism as one of the causes)

4. United States foreign policy during the Age of Imperialism (including the Open Door Policy, Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, Dollar Diplomacy, and Missionary Diplomacy).

5. The causes of World War I (include the assassination of Austrian Archduke  Franz Ferdinand, nationalism, imperialism, militarism, and alliances), and the reasons the United States entered the War (discuss the Zimmermann Note, Lusitania Incident, and Unrestricted Submarine Warfare).

6. The aftermath of World War I (Discuss Wilson’s 14 Points, The Treaty of Versailles, the League of Nations, how the map of Europe changed, and the United States policy of isolationism video)

7. and anything else you feel is relevant!

Each slide should include both text and a graphic (picture, artwork, drawing, chart, map, etc.).

Your presentation should include enough slides to thoroughly address the highlights of the Age of Imperialism and WW I.

Submission:

While working on your presentation you will save it to your student folder.  I also recommend saving to a pen drive if you have one.  When the presentation is complete, you will save it to your class period folder on my pen drive.
