TAKS Test Review
The social studies curriculum at most Texas High Schools places great emphasis on the TAKS test, because the successful demonstration of social studies knowledge and skills is a graduation requirement. I encourage my students to take on more challenging work and aim for commended. The TAKS test overall is really just a measure of minimum skills and knowledge. I want my students to learn a lot more than what is measured by the TAKS test. Whether they get a commended score or not, I hope my students can do more than pick the right answer on a multiple-choice test, that they are more creative, have more imagination, and develop critical thinking skills. That they are problem-solvers, and go on to become responsible, productive citizens past high school.
The review materials on this page are provided to help students brush up on some of the facts and concepts they should have already learned in class. They can also take released exams for practice to become familiar with the format and structure of previous TAKS tests and gain confidence.
